Niki is a master’s student who began her bioinformatics journey in the lab in the summer of 2026. She has an undergraduate degree in biology from Concordia University as well as a certificate in applied computer science at the Université de Montréal. Her interest in bioinformatics was sparked from wanting to better analyse and understand the data she generated through her wet-lab experiments. After working for three years as a research assistant on cytomegalovirus (CMV) research at CHU Sainte-Justine, she decided to pursue a master’s degree supervised by Dr. Soren Gantt and co-supervised by Dr. Julie Hussin. Her research focuses on characterizing the patterns and mechanisms of recombination in CMV.
