Issam Saadie – PhD student in Bioinformatics

Issam is a PhD student who has been part of the lab since the summer of 2024, when he first joined as an undergraduate intern. He subsequently completed his master’s degree in the lab before continuing his research as a PhD student. Combining his interests in biology and technology, he aims to leverage computer science and machine learning approaches to deepen our understanding of biological processes in the human body and contribute to advances in healthcare. In his PhD project, he will use PLM-based methods to characterize the fitness of CYP variants and investigate the evolutionary pressures acting on these genes.
