Issam Saadie – MSc student in Bioinformatics

Issam is an undergraduate student who joined the lab in the summer of 2024. With his love for biology and technology, he is interested in leveraging computer science and machine learning models to investigate the relationship between viral evolution and the immune system. Specifically, Issam will work alongside David Hamelin to better characterize CD8+ T cell evasion by SARS-CoV-2 variants. During his master, he will be applying state of the art algorithms and techniques optimized for interrogating the various ways by which viruses can evade T cells, while getting familiar with the intricate workings of the immune system and the mechanism of viral escape.
