Our research program aims to leverage advancements in ‘omics’ technologies and artificial intelligence (AI) to deepen our understanding of biological systems, their evolution and promote inclusivity in biomedical research. Focusing on the integration of molecular datasets with advanced analytical tools, we target three main research axes: (1) developing equitable AI algorithms to mitigate biases, especially in cardiovascular research; (2) exploring the evolution of emerging pathogens for pandemic preparedness; and (3) investigating the evolution of key gene families for biotechnological innovations. By prioritizing inclusivity and fairness in our computational approaches, we aim to ensure our findings support sustainable and equitable solutions across the diverse global population.
